Aluminum valve covers
We all heard about valves. These are world-wide used items, in different domains, but especially in different areas of the industry. Where do we most hear about valve? But what is a valve cover? This is simple. The valve cover is a removable cover that gives access to pistons or slide valves. Among the many types of valve covers, we can find the aluminum valve covers. The aluminum valve covers, covers the valve train. The valve cover is removed, in order to adjust the valves. Not many people know that the problem of the oil leaks is actually at the valve covers. The aluminum valve covers can solve this problem. Usually, at the old cars, the valve covers are distorted. The oil in the engine is pumped up and it is dispersed underneath the valve cover. This is important because this way, the rocker arms are lubricated. This process happens thousands and thousands of times, and sometimes it makes the aluminum valve covers to bend. This happens because the aluminum valve covers are usually this, and are not able to resist the force of an over-tightened bolt. Whenever the gasket tends to seal just one of the two areas, it will surely produce a leak. Usually the oil leaks down the side of the engine, and can produce more harm than we might believe. And, it is quite hard to fix the leak. Because most of the engines are designed in such a manner that the hand can not reach the valve covers, it is necessary sometimes to use two gaskets glued together.
There is a way to check out whether your aluminum valve covers are distorted. And, it is also very easy. Just take the gasket away, and then put the valve cover back on the cylinder. Normally, when the cylinder head and the valve cover, come into contact, they should sit flat. If this thing doesn't happen, and the valve cover bends, then you should know that it is distorted.
